Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity in Navasota, Texas, whose mission is to provide exceptional lifelong sanctuary to non-releasable wolves and wolfdogs, while sharing a message of education and conservation. They are also about a half-mile as the crow flies from our property and we regularly enjoy the beautiful but eerie howls for their 13 current residents.
We genuinely love this place, and highly recommend a visit to see the wolves and learn a bit about their history and lives. You'll even learn how to tell a wolf from a dog!
There's not a lot of haute cuisine in our next of the woods; however, there are a few decent places to eat that we like and patronize regularly. This list is by no means exhaustive, but these are the places we visit the most.
Pizza
Pizza Hut (in Navasota)
Country Cookin'
Ransom's (Steakhouse)
Magnolia Diner (best for breakfast/brunch)
Mexican Food
Castaneda's Mexican Restaurant (Plantersville)
Chinese Food
Japanese/Sushi
Shogun (Kinda far, but really good)
Fast Food
Head 15 mins East to Montgomery for Fast Food Mecca--McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, Starbucks, Whataburger, Burger King, Wendy's, etc.
For something fast, the closest place for basic staples is the Dollar General (about 10 mins East on 105).
If you need more/better items so you can cook a meal or two, we suggest Kroger in Montgomery (about 15-20 mins East on 105). There's also a Brookshire Brothers there as well. If you're a die-hard Wal-Mart shopper, we suggest you visit the Montgomery Supercenter location. The Navasota store is very small (and not as nice).
When in doubt, go to Montgomery before going to Navasota.
